With over 12 years experience in these healing arts, she has tried to follow the oriental tradituion of not just treating the illness but going deeper to the root causes. Yuko is a member of the British Acupuncture Council. Acupuncture Acupuncture is a system of healing which has been practised for thousands of years. Its aim is to improve the overall well being of the patient. rather than just treating the symptoms. According to traditional philosophy, our health is dependent on the body's motivating energy- Qi - moving smoothly and in a balanced way throughout the body. Fine needles are inserted into the energy channels to stimulate the body's own healing response to restore balance. The Alexander Technique The Alexander Technique teaches us how to use our bodies with minimum stress and maximum efficiency. It re-educates posture, increases our own awareness and helps the individual reduce the tensions derived from bad body poise and use. The effect being to restore a general condition of harmony and balance in the body. Once learned, the Alexander Techniques can be used throughout your life as an aid to better health.

Background Amanda has almost 20 years experience in healthcare, from nursing as a RGN, through pharmaceuticals to nutrition therapy. She gained a Diploma in nutrition, then a Degree Course in Nutrition at the University of Westminster. She is a member of The British Association of Nutritional Therapists (MBANT) She gives regular talks and lectures in nutrition colleges. Working in London for a number of years she specialised in nutritional approaches to female health problems and infertility. Who can benefit from her work? Put quite simply, you are what you eat! Despite the amazing choice of food available in today's society, most people choose their food for reasons of taste, cost, convenience and psychological gratification. All these reasons are valid so long as we don't forget the real reason for eating: to nourish the cells of the body with essential ingredients from our diet In addition to poor choices in food, the western diet of today is often over-processed, grown in depleted soil and stored for long periods. By the time it reaches our tables it has lost many nutrients and is coated in chemicals. The nutritional consultation is tailored to assess the individual's needs by analysing their current health status and previous medical and lifestyle history. A programme of diet, nutrients and lifestyle changes will be designed to help the individual achieve their own personal level of optimum health and its benefits. |
The Buteyko Method
Did you know that carbon dioxide is not a "waste gas" we breathe out but essential for life?
There is no living thing on the planet that can survive without carbon dioxide and that includes us.
Our breathing is controlled by the level of carbon dioxide in our blood, if it is too high we breathe more to "wash out" the excess, if it is too low we breathe less to conserve it.
Many of us, and all asthmatics breathe too much causing our bodies to be "starved" of carbon dioxide. This leads to a multitude of ill effects including tightening of airways, reduced delivery of oxygen to the tissue, breathlessness, panic attacks, high blood pressure just to name a few. Check your breathing below. For more information visit or phone/e-mail Michael Lingard:
Is Your Breathing Making You Ill ?
